This class is designed to provide students an overview of working with Japanese hand tools and some hands-on practice. No prior purchase of tools or materials will be necessary to take this class.
The workshop will cover the proper use and care of Japanese saws, chisels and planes; sharpening with Japanese water stones; plane setup and tuning and traditional layout.
This class will be useful for those interested in taking one of Paul's project based classes.
About the instructor: Paul Tuller has been working with Japanese hand woodworking tools for over 35 years to build traditional Japanese interior spaces and custom furniture. He is the co-founder of The Guild of NH Woodworkers and a past juried member of The League of NH Craftsmen.
