The prospect of writing a business plan and deliver a short, effective pitch is challenging for many.  Thus, we offer a step-by-step process for achieving the desired outcomes: a business plan that will (1) be a roadmap for your intended business and (2) serve as a document for financing; and an opportunity to practice and iterate their pitch in front of a supportive audience. Moreover, this class provides a forum for exploration and discussion for those unsure of the potential of their business (and their own potential to be business owners) and for those who need to focus their ideas.

The class meetings will involve both lecture/workshop and one-on-one consulting opportunities. In addition, CWE offers additional resources that will enable participants to complete their business plans in entirety.

Required Course Materials

Guided Business Plan (Workbook) by Melanie Rae – Provided to participants by CWE

Course Expectations

Course instructors act as facilitators for participants’ learning. That is, preparation and active participation in class discussions are keys to success. Absences should be avoided if at all possible since each meeting focuses on key concepts and subsequently builds on those prior. Completion of homework assignments ensure that the end-goal, a business plan document, is met.

Homework assignments should be emailed to CWE CEP Staff before class meetings. In addition, please make an effort to alert the CEP Staff and your instructor in advance should you be absent from class. Likewise, CWE shall contact you in the event a class must be rescheduled due to weather concerns, etc. Classes will begin promptly so please allow enough time for your commute and parking.

Final Project: The last class affords an opportunity for participants to share their business plans and 5 minute pitches to celebrate their individual and collective successes. Participants will be asked to not only complete their business plans, but to present them to the class and a panel of experts.

Course Rate

$495 per student for the 30 hr. course.  MAxT members will receive a 10% discount.  A limited number of scholarships will be available to those individuals who qualify.
