This introductory workshop with Connie Gray of Gray's Clays will teach you the basics of working with polymer clay, a colorful, addictive, and highly versatile medium that can be learned by students of all ages.
Those with some experience are welcome to come to share ideas, learn more, or use the class as open studio.
A materials fee included in the class price will cover clay (for 4 weeks), use of tools, (including pasta machines), & oven for curing. Participants may purchase their own additional choices of colors. Instructions and project samples will be provided.
Week 1: Intro: Clay properties, Colors, Tools, Curing(baking) Project: Beads - Choker necklace or bracelet
Week 2: Shapes: sheets, surface treatments, stamping Project: Pin or pendant
Week 3: Sculptures: 3-D work, vessels, boxes Project: Realistic or free-form structures
Week 4: Canes (complex designs) Project: Millefiore and more!
About the Instructor: Connie Gray is a member of the New Hampshire Polymer Clay Guild with many years of teaching experience. She has participated in many fairs in the Monadnock Region, selling her creations under the name Gray’s Clays. She works with students of all ages, and currently teaches courses to senior citizens at Scott Farrar and Rivermead.
